Is This What The Inception of a Civil War Feels Like?

Seems everyday I don’t have to turn on the news to discover something has occurred. News that rips apart the fabric of our nation is readily made. Right now they are isolated incidents, most recently Charlie Kirk, the Michigan tragedy, and now the dangerous rhetoric coming from Mr. Trump et al.

Today, I watched a clip of Hegseth preaching to the generals most of which he couldn’t hold a candle of integrity with if standing side by side. Then later the bully walks in and proclaims their allegiance. Stating if anyone wants to walk away, then be prepared to lose your rank. It made me sick. But this is the world we are living in right now. Somehow, something has to happen that makes it all stop. I’m even worried about striking out in the midterms. Word is if we do steal a lot of blue in the mids it will basically make him a lame duck for the last couple of years. I don’t wish ill upon anyone, only the recovery of our nation from the assault it is receiving on a daily basis.

But it is impossible to count on anything, anything at all. I remember when Reagan was president there was a popular theory that the opposition could throw accusations his way and it would just slide off of his teflon exterior. See that is happening now but the difference is, Ronald Reagan had integrity. He wasn’t making an ass of himself every time he was behind a camera. I remember the first pictures of him after the assassination attempt in his robe and slippers. He looked dignified no matter what I felt about his politics. That is not the case today, and Reagan, Nixon, Kissinger, and Jimmy Carter are all spinning in their graves.

Ok, so tomorrow I’m not going to turn on the news. I’m going to take my dog for a walk, have a good breakfast, and then drive ride-share in the morning. There’s peace in all of those ideas. I’ll always think of my frustrations with the current state of things, but at least I can give myself a break. Me and my dog baby, that is the ticket for the coming days.

  1. aquietwalk, I think you have the right idea of ignoring the news and taking the dog for a walk for a bit of peace. The only problem is, if everyone did this, the news would continue to go from bad to worse. I just don’t think that there are enough people doing something about it.

In the meantime, all the best, and stay as happy as you can.

    Regards, Phil
