Carpe Diem Time Glass #33 The Wall Berlin
*****
small child hands
chalk scrapes mortar cracks
school building walls
when I think of the Berlin wall, I only imagine the walls of my school
people with lives
contained by fear’s talon
both similar sides
I remember wondering if there were crossing points in the wall itself
fortress keep secrets
we live the same on either side
yet together lost
when the wall came down a celebration occurred across the world
she stood nearby alone
structure in powdered remains
yet human still
when she walked away that day, her tears remained
yet no one could see
beyond the wrinkled hands she held
hope, selfless … souls
