The truth about rape, and young teenage boys …

(I’m posting this because of the current reaction to a national case of two female teachers being arrested for having sex with a 16 year old student. I am not condoning rape in any sense of the term, but in my examining this current event, this video spoke to me. There are certain triggers in this piece, but the ultimate message is clear and I believe important to listen to. It is valuable to listen to the entire piece.)

    1. Yeah, but as I stand here, men including myself, have a long way to go before we can be inclusive with women, in the terror felt by aggressive choice.

      1. There are men like you and there are men not like you, Thom. In the same vein, I would say there are not so good women and there are great women. I have read many responses to the news of the two teachers. Many male commentators shared that it was their schoolboy dream came true, or that it was the coolest thing, and etc. You get the picture. I am saddened to say that it is precisely because of the “not so good men and women”, the rest of us suffer the indignation of our gender. We can no longer look at one another without suspicion, or even fear. We all have to be wary, cautious and guarded of one another. 😦

      2. Shirley, I began a response to this earlier, and I am not sure where it ended up, so if I am repeating myself, my apologies; however, I think the most remarkable thing about this whole mess has been the inordinate amount of idiots it has exposed in their incessant responses to the news. I am absolutely disgusted. No where in the majority of responses is there held any responsibility for the institution of education. Blows me away. I’m no saint; but, I am a professional, and nothing unravels me more than the ignorance of our society and its willingness to justify the most base judgment in light of our young people’s vulnerability. I have been disturbed by this whole matter since the first posting I came across on social media that suggested high fives for the young man’s prowess. Yeah, I love sex just like anyone else, and would have loved to have had my way with my french teacher when I was 18 in her class. Thank God, she had a value system in place!
