Who Are You Today?

Right now

Well, that’s how

I only ask about today

Because the other day

I noticed a change in attitude

And wondered whether that rude

To imagine a person might hold the right

To react, to engage, to correspond in light

Of a person’s own welfare, their personal desire

That motivates their every action, how they inspire

An individual who standing nearby finds new confidence

Because when push came to shove this moment made sense

Yet, along the way there are always questions that continue to

Drive each moment in a person’s life, each time they feel blue

Perhaps that is a telling statement that suggests they are having real

Emotions that drive them up a wall creating a mountain so surreal

That once they reach a peak they aren’t really sure whether to look down

Or continue to ascend along this trail of hope, this venture they now own

And a vista evolves

A moment around you

Sweet landscapes

Of water and treetops

And our lives seem

Trivial to the vast

World around us now

Just existing without

A question or answer

Eventually we have to come to grips with our need to now mark our descent

We like the view, and the opportunity to release our fears is present

Yet, it is time to go, our lives need to return to some normalcy

And we follow quickly, no longer wondering trajectory

We clearly remember and quickly we begin to look

For familiar surroundings that won’t be mistook

Our world, our needs, our responsibility

Lies along a path we call nobility

Our return is imminent

Surely important

And we land

As planned
