Sitting at home having frightening flashbacks.
We went through this tragedy once before,
and we exploded for days late into the night.
We didn’t have an influx of weaponized visitors,
only ourselves and the national guard’s innocence.
The city burned and rioters were demonized.
People are so angry, the tipping point has arrived.
And yet, somewhere in D.C. there was no alarm.
Only a manufactured crisis began a spin.
The confusion so rampant we couldn’t determine,
just where the flint began to meet the stone.
In the end was the birth of a movement,
a future memorial meant for George Floyd.
A flint lit up the night enough to cause speculation
that the people were wrong, they were mistaken.
This went on for days leaving the city burning.
I cannot fathom the pain people are feeling tonight.
the horrific nature of Alex Pretti’s execution.
We are again lost by the source of agitation.
Minneapolis is our home and we want it back.
