Wrapping The Blues Around My Christmas Tree

I’ll spend the minutes hanging tinsel

Should have enough lights this year,

And maybe I’ll do the deck as well,

Just thinking about Xmas at home.

Wondering if there really is ever enough

To let our heart and soul be at peace.

We think about the have-beens,

The times we can no longer touch,

Stuff you write on a piece of paper now,

“You’ve talked about it for so many years.”

What is the value of a tree in my home,

I have to be able to see it from the street.

Nobody will be coming inside to see it,

So I don’t really understand the bother.

I suppose it might help me in the spirit

Of things to appreciate this time of year.

I guess

Not knowing might be the biggest issue.

I can wonder all night and still not know

How to put all this angst to rest.

The season is upon us now, all the blues

Remind us of who we are, were, will be.

Please I would love you to share words, suggestions …
