I listened to the news today,

had difficulty with my emotions,

Given the nature of the loss,

wondering why I was not standing near

as their family member passed.

Seems such a disconnect,

I waited for this for years,

not necessarily wishing for the 

reality of age to take him away.

I’m watching things from afar today,
