When I remember,
his smile so innocent,
her laughter so real.
Like kids I see today,
their beauty themselves.
The moments bring
a silent agony to my day.
Her singing a favorite tune
walking around the lake.
His quivering lips when he
thought his dad was gone.
I can’t remake childhood,
I can only feel the pain
and share a quiet sigh.
