I don’t know how to respond. I don’t even know if I have a right to respond. What happened today is sending shockwaves through our country and politics keeps trying to ease into the narrative. We need to put politics aside on this one despite the extreme evidence scattered by both sides of our political arena.

A man was assassinated. A man’s family has lost their father and husband. There is no political agenda emanating from his dead body. No matter what Charlie Kirk represented, his death muted our political agenda, and his mortality became central in our mind.

I don’t know how to respond, except to express my deepest condolences to the family of Charlie Kirk. It matters little to me his political leanings. What matters to me tonight is that a person of notoriety has been gunned down for their personal leanings. That reality frightens me.

We need to do better.
