A Calming Silence

When my head no longer hurts,

the day’s ills have drifted away.

I can suddenly hear the outdoors,

a loon in wetlands, sweet visitor.

My dog lays nearby content and

a roadster invades the silent air.

It’s the afterward I can prefer,

my own refuge where I do smile.

That moment where everything

is quiet. Heart and soul aligned.
