Barriers

I hit a wall yesterday,

could feel the sheetrock

when I pulled my face away.

I wondered why I couldn’t stop

the daily barrage

of playing with the wall’s reality.

If it one day might just crumble

like struggles when we discover

some manner of peace,

some positive release.

We seem to seek those barriers,

step in front of lives and distract

us from the goodness we could

live if we gave ourselves

the chance, took the time to breathe.

When I was just a kid,

I had this walk I used to take.

There was a gravel path that wound

to the top of the world near my home.

I’d sit and overlook the city,

wondering about my purpose.

No one knew me up around there,

no one really ever came around.

I would imagine my life for hours,

while the sun slowly set behind me.

I could sit there worrying without a

solution just letting my thoughts run.

There was one day I stayed on the hill

until the twilight came out,

no one I knew worried about me.

We all have lives that we lead, together,

leaving behind our urgency to be alone.

Please I would love you to share words, suggestions …
