Wondering what really waits beyond,

The pictures in the frame seem

Askew from what we understood. 

Today the explanation evades,

What we might believe exists

Only in a memory, a nostalgia.

Riding a high end roller coaster,

Anticipating a dive we didn’t imagine,

But the promise was there.

The promise drove us all,

To search beyond our apathy.

They, on the other hand, disagreed.

Remember that pit in your stomach

When the coaster took a dive?

Feels a little similar every day,

The executive orders, excruciating.

Seems that final ride to the tunnel,

Seems our picture looks surreal.

We can manage to find our smile,

Only right now seems a mile away.
