Losing Paths

I was walking alone.

She was blocks away

Walking an intriguing path,

Her pace so deliberate,

I knew I was losing her.

Later she was sitting

In an outdoor amphitheater.

I knew her ideals changing.

Nearing her I looked for a sign,

She didn’t seem to be waiting,

Her ideals were moving forward.

We were practicing age,

Just leaving formative academies,

Now living a preparation,

Important decisions, life reasons.

I knew she’d found her path,

I knew my fears were winning.
