Just Then

I’m an actor I thought.

I realized I had something,

I stood on that wood,

uttered some words,

and suddenly, I knew I’d be told,

I was speaking about someone,

I had taken them on

not to compete

but only to reiterate

realism, human capacity.

See there’s these two fellows,

I knew nothing about,

but in reliving their lives,

I recognize there is something powerful,

I am making a statement.

But you see now,

I ain’t alone,

I cannot ever do this alone,

I have to have you, and all of you,

and each one of you by my side.

We all have to make this happen,

and today, just then, when I took a step back,

I realized I do have a powerful moment,

one that I can deliver,

Just then,

I might agree upon this journey,

if I let myself be the person I am,

while recreating the lives of two men.
