Here I will focus the writing on poetry and commentary.

A terrible thing to imagine,

the first people to come to mind

are the children,

those young boys and girls these two men,

these two people who served the people,

in their free time,

probably practicing goodness,

probably liked by the children in their

Brooklyn neighborhood.

They were there to quiet the riots,

peaceful as they turned out to be,

they were there to do their job,

when a lone gunman,

who will go unnamed,

I won’t give the individual the time of day,

except label their evil as such,

and only that. Evil in the ignorance,

of a failed fifteen minutes.

I worry about the children,

who continue to grow confused

looking for role models,

looking to recognize the blue steel.

When will we again understand,

We can begin by recognizing these two men,

Wenjian Liu and Rafael Ramos,

died for the children.

Their lives shake the fabric of everyone tonight,

shed not a tear for the gunmen tonight,

give Grace to a greater plan to protect and serve.
