Where do we all come from

and on this day,

sunlit afternoon,

how is my pitch more accessible

than yesterday’s plea when the rains came.

I would like to know that confusion that

helps define the worth of human nature.

Perhaps every day is a business trip

no matter the vocation

each one of our ideals

becomes tested

when we discover

our lives are not that different

not so far removed

not so fast
