I play a somber flute
While tears fall upon
A midnight sky
Clouds of despair surround
Confusion that lays me out
Feeling rather human tonight
While I recognize a helpless
Need to know answers
Any answers
A hint
That settles in the mind
And yet I seek the sweet sounds
Of piano keys with an occasional flute
~
Take me on a journey beyond my pain
To let the beauty of memory help me recall
Just how lovely our lives have become
And how important each kiss, glance, hug
Every moment we entertain
Knowing one another in a manner of
That undying effort
That need we employ
That notion of compassion
We so often refer to simply
We seek
We decide with choice
We will
Love
~
A night sky cold again lets quiet mind’s travel
To the sounds and beauty of a somber flute
